When the violence Når volden står deg nær

Domestic violence and abuse is something to which many of us have experienced, but yet few of us talk about openly. There seems to be a “common” perception connected to stigma keeping people silent, that what goes on behind closed doors, stays behind closed doors. Even though “we” agree violence and abuse is not right in principle. In this engaging film, you get an insight into different forms of domestic violence and abuse through the lived experiences of Marius, Sogra, Kari Maritza, Siv Anne, Christina, Kine and Tyrell from the Life Experience Library. Their experiences are supplemented with professional insight and experiences from Ane Fossum, who heads the Norwegian Crisis Center Secretariat. The film can be used both by professionals for training and as psychoeducation and inisght for people facing or that has faced domestic violence and abuse themselves, or as relatives/next of kin supporting their loved ones.

We all face emotions and situations where we just want to escape and not feel. At least for a while, we can recharge before we return to our lives and try to cope. This is where addiction can get a hold of us, and for many it creeps up on us. Learn from people that have broken out of different types of addiction, and hear insights from Consultant Clinical Psychologist Anne Crawford-Docherty. Together they take you through the different aspects of addiction, sharing experiences from their own lives when their addiction controlled them. Hear why many of us use different substances to escape our emotions or challenges in life through their real experiences. See what moments made them re-evaluate if the positives of their escape outweighed the costs of their addiction. Anne shares the model called “the stages of change”, and the different people share how they managed to break out of their addiction, to create the new lives they wanted. Hear what they learned from the whole process and what they wish they knew when they still felt the need to escape life. This is a good introduction that can help you take steps to overcome your addiction or how to support another person on their recovery journey.
