The alcohol had gotten a hold of me and every time something difficult happened I turned to alcohol to numb my pain. I started a family early, and my life was going well, but I felt shy in social settings and turned to alcohol as it helped me relax. After some years my business started struggling and instead of showing vulnerability I isolated and suppressed my emotions. Again I turned to alcohol, but this time it took over my life, and eventually, my family fell apart. After that, I was denied to see my children, and years later, living in another country, I got the shocking message that my daughter had passed away. The overwhelming grief combined with the challenges of creating a life in a new country pushed me towards alcohol again.

See how I finally opened up and reached out for help. I accepted both professional help and peer support which started my journey toward stopping my drinking. With the support of my new partner, I slowly let go of the shame and started working on a new career. Learn how a work inclusion company supported me in adapting by integrating me into a job while learning the language. See how this helped me regain belief in myself and create a sober but good life for myself.
