I felt I had met the man of my dreams, but slowly it transformed into abuse and social control. Eventually I believed he was all I deserved and that no one would ever love me again if I left. My life evolved around him and his mood, and I did everything in my power to hide it.

See how I started realizing what I had experienced and that I understood that it was physical and psychological abuse. Hear how leaving was just the start and learn how finding a peer support group became my turning point of healing. In the group I could share, feel understood and learn to respect myself again, to start creating the person I wanted to be in a safe environment.

This interview was made possible thanks to the support from Selvhjelp Norge that works for self-organized self-help, to make participation in self-help groups possible and common for people who experience life challenges.
