Suggested Lived Experiences
For as long as I can remember, I’ve experienced discrimination for my Indigenous background. It started with bullying at school, all up to the harassment of today, making me feel less worthy. The discrimination and exploitation I and fellow Indigenous people have experienced in Bolivia has been happening on a structural level for too long. The government is exploiting Indigenous territories for resources and capital gains, leaving us with destroyed nature and contaminated waters. This has disrupted our ways of life and uprooted our deep spiritual connection to nature, leaving me with a sense of discouragement and injustice.
See how I decided the discrimination was unacceptable and turned my pain into motivation to stand up against this injustice. Learn how I found my voice through the support in the community locally, nationally, and internationally. I grew into a leader of a movement that works for Indigenous rights and deconstruction of the structural oppressive systems, but also for reclaiming our land rights and ways of living. Finding my sense of purpose helped me utilize my pain and focus on uniting through our shared humanity.
