My life was turned upside down when my brother, who was working as a journalist, was imprisoned without a trial. Living a fairly calm life in Sweden, I started tirelessly campaigning for my brother. I felt my screams fell on deaf ears, and the government supporters actively harassed me. As the months and years with Dawit in jail passed, my loneliness and powerlessness grew to the point where I did not know what to do.

See how I found solace in the support I got from my own football club and Sweden’s media network. Their support fueled my energy and gave me new means of continuing and broadening our pressure to release my brother. Learn how I found a community of other activists that helped me to balance my own life with campaigning for my brother.
