Losing my only son to suicide robbed me of any meaning in life. As a single mother trying to raise my son and provide for our household, I felt trapped between providing and being emotionally present. Seeing my son struggle while trying my best to support him but not getting to the core of it drove my frustration to the max. After losing him, I was filled with guilt and a feeling of betrayal as he promised me he would never attempt suicide again. As I had always been the strong one in the family, I put on a mask and focused on comforting the others. Hear how I finally managed to make space for my own suppressed emotions and cry them out. Remembering him through music we had shared and pictures of him allowed me to start grieving. In addition to journaling, this allowed me to start opening up to my family and cherishing memories of him together while supporting each other.
