I grew up in an unstable and poor home during the war in Afghanistan. My step-father physically abused and sexually harassed me. Because of this, I quickly became a distant, emotionally closed, and shy child. The abuse escalated when we fled the war as refugees, and I did not see any reason to continue.

Hear how my mother managed to divorce him and keep us children, and despite our struggle, this made me feel free from his terror. Learn how I discovered theater and storytelling as a way to face my suppressed trauma and express myself to start healing.
