I grew up in a closed and socially controlled community as part of a religious cult, but growing up I felt grateful to be part of a higher purpose. In my teens the pressure for being perfect in God’s eyes and extent of control broke me down.

Learn how I carried on serving, but when the organizations rules were changed globally, I took the choice to go to college in the U.S. See how this showed me the extent of the social control I had grown up in, and how I worked on the guilt and depression to build the life I wanted.
