I went through female genital mutilation as a child like everyone in my community, but i got sick and had to spend most of my years in hospital.
On top of that the war broke out and we had to flee around Somalia, until my father got us to Italy and then the U.K.
First when I met another FGM survivor in the U.K. I realized what abuse had happened to me, and I could start processing it. Learn how I managed to turn my trauma into my passion, and work to increase awareness in communities.
