Alcohol abuse took my father away and left me with a mother struggling with the same. My family's adversity forced me to grow up quickly and take on the responsibilities of an adult. Combined with growing up in a low socioeconomic community, we struggled to see options to turn things around. My grief and despair felt overwhelming to the point where I suppressed my emotions to cope, and with it, my loneliness grew.

See how I went out of my comfort zone when I reached out to people living in wealth, to ask them how they got there. Knocking on doors and stopping people on the streets triggered negative stereotypes and caused rejection, but in one of my last efforts someone let me in with a warm heart and curious mindset. Learn how this was the start of insightful conversations and mentorship that allowed me to free my mind of limitations. I pursued a new path I could never have imagined towards a career in asset management, and I had to reach deep into myself to achieve it. Today I work to use my experience to inspire young people and try to pay forward what I was given.
