Our lives changed in an instant when we had to decide if we wanted to keep our expected child, when we learnt that he had down syndrome. We both agreed to move forward. Our beautiful boy brought us a spirit we could never foresee, but also challenges for our family. As a caretaking father I stretched thin and struggled to share my energy evenly with my children, and especially found it tough that his sisters distanced themselves from him.

Hear how we as a family accepted that we needed support to create space for us all to feel connected. See how a combination of support from the school, a “relief family” and for us to share the caretaking helped me grow as a father. Learn how my challenges helped me become a more empathic and tolerant man, and how I brought my engagement into awareness work for down syndrome.
