Next of kin, Freedom

Growing up I was neglected by my mother. She scared me at times and struggled with her drinking. Since my mother was well known, we worked very hard to keep up appearances as a family. I eventually blamed my mothers drinking on myself. This was partly because I was adopted and didn’t feel like I truly belonged in the family.

Hear how I found spaces and people that I felt safe around and how I asked professionals to help me. Learn how joining a group for adopted children helped me to face my childhood traumas and taught me to let go of my guilt. See how I decided to use my experiences to create a career working with children.
